Split screen on Android devices allow you run two different Apps simultaneously on one Android screen but not all Android phones come with this feature. In this post, we’ll be sharing with you how to enable split screen on any Android device.
Split screen also known as multiple windows divide your phone screen into two equal halves so you could run two apps at the same time on one Android screen. For example, you can be chatting on Whatsapp and be streaming a video on YouTube at the same time with both apps sharing the phone screen.
Split screen is a new feature not built with older Android phones and infact, most phones only started enabling the feature with the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and newer versions. Samsung and Gionee M6 were some of the earliest phone to use the feature.
However, despite the fact that most newer Android phones come with these feature, not all Android phones allow you use the feature and even when they do, not all apps support the feature.
But activating a split screen on an Android device running on Android 7.0 and above is a piece of cake if you know how to go about it, but an uphill task if you are a novice in that field. To enable split screen on any Android device, you will need to follow these steps below.
How To Enable Split Screen Function On Your
- First activate the “Developer Mode”. Not really compulsory, but it would help you force some apps that were not designed to work with the split screen function to work by force. To do this go to Settings > About this device > Build number. Once you are there, click on Build number like 5 times until you get a notice saying “you are now a developer”.
- Once in the developer mode, scroll down to the end of the page and enable the option that says “Force activities to be resizable”. Once you do this, restart your device to activate the option. Once you have restarted your device, even those apps that aren’t usually compatible with the split screen option will be able to run in split-screen mode.
- Click on the recent button and click and hold any open app, then drag it to the upper part of the screen. Once you do that, you would see the screen has been divided into two.
