The Notification bar is sometimes called the Status bar. In fact it is both! It is located at the top of all your home screens for phones and at the bottom-right for tablets.

Aside “Material Status Bar”, “Status” is another third party Android App that doesn’t just lets you change the status bar alone, but also allows you to customize everything on the status bar to make it look like an iPhone or a high end Android device from the positioning of icons to applying specific status bar background colour with every App launched.

Before we proceed on how to customize status bar on any Android device, let’s quickly do a brief review on “Status” the App that gave us this privilege.

With over 1 million downloads and 4.2 star rating on Google PlayStore, we can categorically tell you status is one of the best App available for status bar customization, with a very clean, lite and easy to use interface. The App which is completely free and without Ads was developed by James Fenn boasts of customization ranging from changing status bar background colour, changing positions of status bar icons, replacing default icons with new ones, changing fonts and colours of features on the status bar and also setting preferred status bar colours to use with any App opened.

The App actually draws an overlay on top of the system-generated status bar. What this mean is that the actual status bar is only hidden under the replacement; touch gestures are not overridden, and the standard notification panel is still shown. Status is very easy to use and doesn’t even require rooting your device before it works. It however needs you to enable some permissions in order to obtain information needed to display in the status bar. These permissions are listed below.
